“Building and artistic restoration of I. N. Ag. Dimitrios of Weapons in the City of Patisia” NSRF 2007-2013, with the implementing body the Holy Archdiocese of Athens, under the supervision of the DAVMM and the DSANM and the supervision of the EFAATH
I. N. Ag. Dimitriou of Arms is a single-aisled, domed basilica of the 16th-17th century, which has been integrated into the north side of the relatively recently built church of the same name. At least two layers of frescoes are preserved in the temple, dating from the 17th and 19th centuries. The restoration work included fixing the masonry and the dome, replacing the tiled roof and strengthening the foundation. For the conservation of frescoes, moreover, rescue operations were carried out, before the implementation of the restoration works, exploratory cuts, removal of parts of later frescoes and conservation works of the preserved subjects.
