- REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATE AGREEMENT The multifaceted work of the Ephorate of Antiquities of the City of Athens concerns, as dictated by archaeological jurisprudence, the restoration, disclosure, protection, preservation, study, publication, promotion of Greek archaeological sites and monuments (real and movable) as well as the processing of numerous administrative cases which concern the whole of the cultural wealth of our country. This goal for the Ephorate of Athens is of pivotal importance both for the status of the monuments themselves, and for the educational character they should play in society, as “visible pieces of history” in the words of the German archaeologist E. Buschor.
  - DESIGN PROJECTS OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES, MUSEUMS AND WAREHOUSESWith financing from National resources and having as the main priority the upgrading of the image and the functionality of the archaeological sites and monuments of the Ephoria and the improvement of the services provided to the millions of visitors, dozens of infrastructure improvement and expansion projects were carried out.

- DESIGN PROJECTS OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES, MUSEUMS AND WAREHOUSESWith financing from National resources and having as the main priority the upgrading of the image and the functionality of the archaeological sites and monuments of the Ephoria and the improvement of the services provided to the millions of visitors, dozens of infrastructure improvement and expansion projects were carried out.
- EXCAVATIONSThe Ephorate of Antiquities of Athens during the period November 2014-January 2018 carried out a large number of rescue excavations for the protection of antiquities discovered during excavations for the construction of private or public technical works of the buildings, with important findings, which offered interesting data for the knowledge of the ancient topography of the city of Athens (cult, fortification and residential architecture, burial remains, laboratory complexes).
- CONSERVATIONIn the context of the assumption of responsibility for the maintenance of the monuments of the largest part of the basin of Athens by the Maintenance Department of the EFA.ATH. a total of seven maintenance laboratories were operated, re-operated or established.

Rules of operation of Archaeological Sites

We inform visitors that it is strictly forbidden to:

the entry of people who are under the influence of substances (alcoholic beverages, drugs)
• any behavior, attire or activity, which is not compatible with the character of the archaeological site and the museum
• moving and leaving the archaeological site /museum, as well as any kind of deterioration of ancient work (e.g. stone, clay, metal, etc.). Violators are strictly prosecuted, in accordance with the provisions of the archaeological law (L. 4858/2021)
• the collection, removal or damage of any object, natural or modern
• pollution of any kind
• the consumption of food and drinks, as well as smoking
• the photography/videography of indecent or defamatory scenes
• the entry of animals, except for dogs accompanying people with disabilities (the prohibition applies only to the Acropolis and the Slopes, the Kerameikos, as well as the Museums

At the same time, visitors to archaeological sites and museums, as well as tour guides, must:

• comply with the instructions and suggestions of the staff,
• follow the markings and configured routes,
• not to enter roped off areas,
• not to touch the artistic creations that are incorporated into monuments or exhibited in the space or the museum, to be particularly careful at the points that are dangerous, either due to the physical formation of the ground, or due to the execution of works.
• For the archaeological sites, it is recommended to use footwear suitable for hiking

Failure to comply with the above justifies the removal
of the visitor from the archaeological site and the museum
