Fixation and restoration of I.N. Dormition of the Theotokos Chrysospeliotissa” Beneficiary: DAVMM. Sub-project with implementing body E.A.Ath. Maintenance of murals

The Holy Church of the Dormition of the Virgin Chrysospeliotissa, declared a historic preserved monument, is located at 60 Aiolou Street. It belongs to the type of three-aisled domed basilica with a transversal nave, narthex and vault. Its construction began in 1863, while in 1888 and 1892 it was completed with the construction of the two spires on the west side. Inside it is decorated with hagiographies (works by V. Kota, A. Peta and Spyr. Hatzigiannopoulos in 1879, 1892), decorative themes and marble elements. As part of the sub-project, cleaning work was carried out from deposits of soot, dirt and materials from previous interventions, fixing the substrate and aesthetic restoration of the mural decoration of the dome, the spherical triangles, the interior arches of the temple and the drums of the North, South, East and West antenna.
