The Ephorate of Antiquities of Athens during the period November 2014-January 2018 carried out a large number of rescue excavations for the protection of antiquities discovered during excavations for the construction of private or public technical works of the buildings, with important findings, which offered interesting data for the knowledge of the ancient topography of the city of Athens (cult, fortification and residential architecture, burial remains, laboratory complexes).
A find of particular importance both for worship and for the completion of the topographical map of the eastern bank of the Ilis, outside the walls of the city of Athens, is the discovery of a foundation trench for a classical period temple on a plot of land on the streets of Ardittos, Thomopoulos, Kefalos and Koutoulas in area of Mets, which, as can be seen from the two sections of votive reliefs collected inside the trench, is identified with the Sanctuary of Zeus Meilichios.
