In the laboratories of EF.A.ATH. 4,200 objects were maintained. Among them stand out, the bone plagiaulus, the gold geometric jewel with inlaid amber, the tortoise shell with associated metal finds that were parts of a musical instrument, the unique wooden columns’ inlays and the metal links from the Propylaia and the Parthenon, a Mycenaean necklace and the set of vases from excavation research in Chalandri.

A total of 50 works, sculptures-busts-complexes, statue bases, capitals, Hermaic columns, parts of reliefs and inscribed columns, are exhibited in the peristyle of the Attalus Stoa in the Ancient Agora, which date from classical to Roman times.The conditions of exposure of the covered collection to a corrosive environment result in the deposition of suspended atmospheric particles such as (metal oxides, sulfur radicals, nitric radicals and various hydrocarbons), soil and plant dust, the acidic secretions of birds and insect nests, to settle on the surfaces of the objects causing color and chemical changes, resulting in their aesthetic degradation.In the last 3 years, the systematic maintenance of the exhibits in the peristyle of the Stoa has been completed by the conservators of EFAPA, while the systematic maintenance of the exhibits of the Upper Stoa is planned.The aim of the conservation of the sculptural and architectural members is to reveal the original surface and the details covered by the various layers of deposits, with the aim of upgrading and optimally protecting them in the exhibition space.
