Priority of the Ephorate
it is the arrangement, classification and ensuring the appropriate storage conditions of the finds found in the archaeological warehouses.
In this context, in May 2016, the international RE-ORG program took place in the warehouses of Kerameikos. The methodology for proper storage of archaeological material, after its successful application there, is systematically applied in all the storage areas of the Ephorate. At the same time, all the archaeological material (4650 items) of the Acropolis warehouses was stored in an exemplary manner, while the vulnerable groups were placed in new special cabinets with controlled conditions.
All the objects were registered in a database (5515 items have been recorded to date), in which, among other things, their state of preservation is described in detail.
Also, all the finds from N. Klitios and Plaka, which were kept in the warehouse of the Old Acropolis Museum and in the warehouse on Thrasyllou Street respectively, were packed and moved to the new warehouse area of the Makrygianni plot, with the aim of keeping them in better conditions. Extensive improvements were made to the antiquities safeguarding systems in the Melidoni Street warehouses with the construction of support bases for large vases.
