Restoration of the Church of the Holy Trinity of “Nero” Penteli” and “Maintenance and restoration of the frescoes of the Church of the Holy Trinity of “Nero” Penteli” NSRF Project 2007-2013 with the implementing body the Holy Archdiocese of Athens<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The I. N. of Agia Triados Pentelis belongs to the type of church with a narthex and a later external narthex, which has an interior fresco decoration from 1552. The restoration work included removal of the external plasters, application of deep grouting and final plastering. In addition, the old tile roof was removed, domes were cleaned and new tiling was applied with handmade tiles. Worn frames were repaired and replaced, new flooring was laid inside and the electrical installation was replaced. The works also included the systematic maintenance and aesthetic restoration of the fresco decoration and interior plastering, while a new wooden iconostasis was installed. During the works, an excavation was carried out inside the main church and the inner narthex, during which the remains of an older church, used for burial in the Byzantine period, were discovered, which are kept buried under the new floor of the Holy Trinity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
