\u00ab”Consolidation and restoration of the Holy Church of Agios Dimitrios in Amarousio and execution of the related works” with the implementing body the Ecclesiastical Council of the Parish Church of Agios Nikolaos Amarousios of the Holy Metropolis of Kifissia Amarousios and Oropos<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

It is a single-aisled vaulted basilica decorated with frescoes from 1622. The fixing-restoration works included the removal of the external and internal fragile plasters, with the simultaneous recording of the pathology and the investigation of earlier construction operations, sanitization of the stonework, application of compatible grouting and hydraulic grout, replacement old tile roof and application of external coating to the temple’s masonry. Internally, before the start of the restoration work, the Ephorate staff carried out fixing work on the surviving frescoes and exploratory sections were carried out in order to find any further fresco decoration. The newer wooden chancel was also replaced with a new one, the existing wooden frames were preserved and the worn beams were replaced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
